The opening FUTUREMAKERS event featured focuses on connecting projects to new audiences, highlighting unique products, and the positive growth of creative entrepreneurs. There were 4 individuals who highlighted mixes featuring different musical artist and genres in Pittsburgh along with 4 individuals who highlighted their work in film and performance arts at KST Alloy Studios.
On May 24th, the FUTUREMAKERS is back with its Symposium to push interaction, solution based conversations, and collaboration with entrepreneurs, artists, policymakers, non-profiters, freelancers, creatives, producers, and makers.
First up is FUTUREMAKERS Mixtape at the Ace Hotel from 12P-2P which is dedicated to connecting projects to new audiences, highlighting unique products, and the positive growth of creative entrepreneurs. Meet individuals who work in and around Penn Ave.
Second, join panelist at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater The Role of Arts in Equitable Development where they will discuss the importance of investing in artistic, cultural, and entrepreneurial expressions of existing neighborhood residents and institutions that are subject to displacement.
Third, meet Umberto Crenca who is the founder of Providence’ AS220, a non-profit community arts center with artist live/work studios and several exhibition spaces. “Imagining A New Future” will find Umberto discussing how arts, culture, and creativity is not only a catalyst for “placemaking” but more importantly, a catalyst for “neighbor-making.”
