[Dirty Mic] Rick Ross, Drake, and Kanye West top MTV’s Hottest MC List. You Mad?

By now if you’ve been paying attention to all of the MTV Hottest MC Listings you’ve noticed one thing. Not all of the artist are consisted of our favorite lyricist/artist. Why? I’ll tell you why.

MTV compiles these list on things we more than likely fail to realize. To easily break it down it’s all about Fame, Publicity, Consistency (how consistent they’re trending & being talked about), then more than likely the music. I didn’t watch the show but one surprise was that Big Sean was above Wiz Khalifa. But we all know why I feel that way (read here).

Many of us we’re wondering “Well where in the hell is Kendrick Lamar, Dom Kennedy, Big K.R.I.T., Freddie Gibbs?” Hell Mac Miller didn’t even make it and he’s been wrecking shop as in independent. Other than Mac Miller, K. Dot, Dom, K.R.I.T., and Gibbs are still fairly unknown. We can fight about this later but if you want to test what I mean, go to a friend who doesn’t frequent blogs (yeah I know most of them do) and ask them could they name two songs from each of those artist. I bet you’ll be waiting a while for those answers.

Not to say those artist aren’t hot. Those are the artist I prefer to listen to. But, when you can drop a song and you can instantly set the media on fire, that’s how you make it on MTV’s Hottest MC List. When Rick Ross drops a track, we’re immediately running around gruntin’. When Drake drops a song he immediately draws a response, whether it be about how emotional he is or what stripper he’s in love with. These artist spark fires in more than just music. It’s kind of stupid how they come to these conclusions but at the same time they’re looking at it from many different aspects other than music.

You’re probably saying “But it’s a fuckin music list!” Hey I agree. If we want to see our favorite artist top these list guess what we’re going to have to do? Show more support. Full listing below.

I feel you…where was KRIT, Curren$y, etc. The invisible requirement to being placed on the list was being mainstream. Maybe that’s why some people weren’t even mentioned. To me, guys like your Jay-Z’s & Eminem’s shouldn’t make the list, it’s evident that they’re the shxt at what they do. It’s an honor for them to still be relvant on the list, but is there a need to put Jay-Z at #6?
