[Feature] Jadon: Ahead of Time

Having developed his buzz through years of travel and performance, award-winning poet and music artist Jadon has released his debut mixtape on DatPiff. Beautiful History features Adele’s drummer Derrick Wright, among others, and highlights the Brooklyn-based MC’s impeccable rhyming skills with a combination of freestyles and storytelling lyrics over mostly live instrumentation.

While touring in Pittsburgh earlier this month, Jadon connected with the local hip-hop community. A featured performer at both the Shadow Lounge/AVA and Eclipse Lounge open mic’s, Jadon found himself rapping in a cipher of local MC’s more than once during this tour. Visits to local clothing boutiques Timebomb Shop and Blasfome were another obvious choice.

“From what I understand, Brick Diggler is a prick if you suck at rapping,” Jadon said of Timebomb Shop’s owner while being interviewed about his time in the city on Beats, Rhymes, & Life at the University of Pittsburgh’s radio station, WPTS 92.1 FM.

Nearing the conclusion of his tour in Pittsburgh, a connection earlier established between Jadon and a fellow guest on L.O.C.K.down Radio at Carnegie Mellon U.’s WRCT 88.3 FM led to the opportunity for him to close Coro Pittsburgh’s MLK Diversity & Leadership Awards Ceremony at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture with a poem. The poem earned a standing ovation from the large audience, as Jadon quickly made his way out of the auditorium and rushed to a prior engagement that he had made to perform at a party with Duquesne U.’s Sigma Tau fraternity.

We expect to be hearing a lot more from Jadon in the days ahead. For now, we suggest you check out the aforementioned Beautiful History mixtape. From the mixtape, this is the music video for “Sunshine (Remix)” with Ghsts N Guitars:
