[Feature] Product Of The Block 2 Q&A w/ 2Eleven
JENESIS catches up with 2Eleven before the release of his highly anticipated mixtape called Product Of The Block 2.
The title Product of The Block has an obvious meaning behind it. How does it pertain to the growth of your career to this point?
First Product Of The Block mix tape solidified me in the rap game. I sat back, studied the game and studied the mixtape. I made a song called “Product Of The Block”, that just pertained to everyone coming from the same struggle that I came from, and this solidified me.
Explain to us the sound of the latest project that you’ll be offering the masses Christmas week?
Movtivation, uplifting, party. I’m catering to different genres, every person. Couple different sounds. Got some records on there that people won’t expect from 2Eleven.
What made you lead with On My Shit with Freddie Gibbs as your single from Product of The Block 2?
That record chose me. Purps came through the studio, and he played it. I told him load that up. Kicked him out the studio and knocked it out. Called studio the next day, he did his verse. It had to go first.
Along with Jeezy releasing his project and Freddie Gibbs putting in hard work, it seems as if you’re helping lead CTE back into the lead of the public’s eye. How does it feel to be seen as an artist that people need to pay more attention too?
It’s a great feeling. I’m honored that people are checking for me, I’m going to go extra hard for them.
What might be the biggest misconception that people have of 2Eleven?
They try to put me in a box. I’m in all lanes. I can do all kinds of music. Being from Los Angeles, they try to put me as a West Coast Gansta rapper. Being signed to Jeezy, they put me in that box. I can do any kind of records.
Some people are content with playing the background and being a part of a larger movement. Do you see yourself making a big impact as a solo artist in the near future?
That’s what we’re working on right now.
