[Feature] Young Roddy – Taking Flight

by Charne Graham @88nae88

Young Roddy is one of the youngest members of the Jet life Records family and also someone that Jet Life leader Curren$y refers to as one of his best friends in the world. If you’re a fan of Curren$y you should be familiar with hearing Roddy’s thick New Orleans accent laced voice frequently on mixtapes and albums.

The 24-year-old started rapping at age 19 and has recently dropped his debut mixtape “Good Sense” in early April. “I met Spitta around the same time I started rapping, my cousin brought me to studio and I rapped on a track.” says Roddy “It was all about being in the right place at the right time.” Roddy listed Nas as his top influence as a rapper.

Jet Life Records is evolving into a team of artists that have always collaborated and blended well together. The label now has a cult-like following with fans that will do almost anything to be down. Roddy and Trademark The Skydiver were two original members of Jet Life. Two new members Smoke DZA and Sir Michael Rocks were added to the lable last year. “I feel like everybody plays their individual position in Jet Life, I think I bring the street side of rap to the table.” explains Roddy. Curren$y’s latest album “The Stoned Immaculate” dropped June 5th and you can surely look forward to hearing more of Young Roddy coming soon.
