Last minute plans makes for unexpected fun. Chancelor Humphrey of KeepPittsburghDope, who was also featured in the latest issue release, co-hosted the mini-release party as attendees got a promotional print featuring himself, Miss Dimplez, Blessed Faith LA, and Rome Fortune.
Rome Fortune is one of the most consistent up and coming acts in the industry with about as much appeal and creativity you’d see come from any major player out there. Having released 4 projects in the last year including this year’s “Yep” with OG Maco, Rome readies himself for his 2nd tour in a year span, Eyes On Me, staring March 26th with headliner The Bay’s Star Rapper, IAMSU.
Our cover interview, “Flock Of One,” explores how being a loner works so well for Rome and his career in which he’s creatively mastered how and when to utilize collaborative efforts. Cover photo shot by Courtney Jefferson.
The issue releases digitally March 24th and will also be available for singular print orders.
JENESIS Magazine is currently seeking to revamp its reporting staff with an aggressive recruitment effort launching this January. The magazine is expected to make at least 10-15 new additions in the coming year, say the magazine owner.
“This recruitment process is an integral part of our strategic moving forward,” said Thomas Agnew, co-owner and creative director of JENESIS Magazine. Agnew said part of that strategy is increasing its staff and content which will increase readership.
JENESIS Magazine is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and covers lifestyle brands, music, politics and culture. It has interviewed and featured several prominent musicians on its cover, including: Wiz Khalifa, Dom Kennedy, Curren$y, and Mac Miller.
The magazine has been solely a digital magazine, but has released limited print copies in the recently. However, Agnew says the magazine is focusing on its online efforts and to stay competitive with its digital format the JENESIS team must grow.
The content the journalists are expected to cover range from music to entrepreneur leadership. In addition to its flagship sections, the magazine is also unveiling Brim Beast, a column focusing on hat trends along with Intro To Sound which will cover production aspects, release music submitted by producers, and original production content.

Carrying the torch of being up next can sometimes cripple an individual. We’re glad that hasn’t been the case with Devin Miles. 2011 was his first appearance on JENESIS with “Fire Flame” and what stuck out to us wasn’t how good he was when we checked out his first project, Finding My Own, but it was how he paid attention to his presentation and quality. 3 years later, those attributes have helped him get notice from many such as T.I., Sway, Fuse TV, and the many fans that boost each of his new releases to new heights.
