Trae Tha Truth & ABN volunteer with Habitat For Humanity in honor of Money Clip-D
Notable musician Trae tha Truth and members of the ABN and Brown families volunteered with Habitat For Humanity Houston on Saturday, December 1, 2012 to honor the legacy and memory of Dominic Levar Brown,Sr., affectionately known as Money Clip-D. Dominic was tragically murdered in senseless gun violence on November 25, 2011. Mayor Parker recognized Dominic (Clip-D) for his philanthropic spirit and role as a community pillar by designating December 1st in Memorium as Dominic L Brown Day. Clip’s role as a vital foundation to the Southwest community, as well as Trae’s ABN Family made the desire to volunteer with Habitat For Humanity Houston an immediate decision. HFHH’s mantra, Building Homes, Changing Lives is important to us in building the legacy Dominic has left behind in the presence of his 3 sons DeQuan and Dominic Brown, Jr, and Patrick Spencer, as he changed many lives.
The day began at 7:30am after returning to Houston from a performance a few hours prior in San Antonio, Texas at the build site in the Settegaste community. Trae along with various members of his camp came prepared to lend a hand to the Oliver family on their journey to home ownership. ” I am grateful to Mr. Trae and his team for coming out and helping to make my family’s dream a reality.” states Mr. Oliver. Trae cut various materials, helped assemble walls for the home, as well as the roofing. “It’s truly a blessing to give back to a family and honor my brother Clip’s legacy. I am truly honored.” In working in conjunction with members from the Habitat for Humanity staff and Shell Corporation, Trae found another way to help build a community and the city of Houston which he loves so much. After the build, the family held a private ceremony to honor Dominic.
December 1st truly became memorable for many in Houston and Trae and the ABN Family honored and remembered Money Clip-D as the rock of the camp, brother, and compassionate and caring man that he was.
