[Under The Radar] Amadeus: The Platinum Touch

Article by Tip Hicks (@datz_trizzy)

“One thing you have to understand is no matter who you partner with in this business you still have to put in the same amount of work and hustle as you did before you got on.”

By the age of 17, Amadeus had already earned his first gold plaque with Foxy Brown’s “Cradle to the Grave.” After only a few months of college, he was disappointed with the university’s music studio and quickly realized that he could reach his dreams in his own way.

Antwan “Amadeus” Thompson, 31, is a multi-platinum producer, a member of Diddy’s Bad Boy production team “The Hitmen”, and CEO of Platinum Boy Music. He has produced songs for over 50 artists including Trey Songz, Danity Kane, Trina, Justin Bieber, and many more.

Who have you not worked with but could see yourself making Platinum music with?

I would love to have the opportunity to work with Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyonce, Usher, Lady Gaga, Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Pastor Marvin Sapp, Tinie Tempah, David Guetta to name a few

As a Producer, what are some of the challenges in producing?

The music business has changed a lot. It’s much less hands on, forcing producers to send music to artists rather than actually being in the studio and creating the masterpieces together. With that being one of the challenges I feel the quality of music has decreased. I’m working towards getting back to the way it used to be. It won’t be an easy task but it can be done

Describe the amazing feeling from your first Platinum record:

My first platinum record was the Mike Jones album; it went on to sell 1,200,000 records allowing me to achieve my first platinum plaque. I can’t even describe the feeling I had…especially knowing where I’d come from and the amount of time, energy and sacrifice put into my craft as a record producer. It was a strong testament that with hard work and dedication your dreams can come true.

How do you remain true to your music?

I know where my gifts and talents come from and that’s God so I know & realize that it’s not all about me it’s all about allowing God to use me and my gift. That’s why to me, it’s all about being humble and everything will come together

Amadeus and his team have recently expanded at Platinum Boy to include multiple talents such as web designers, in house producers, recording artist Tiffany Mynon, and other songwriters. In the next five years he is dedicated to developing his artist and to having one of his records featured on the top 10 Billboard charts. “I’m just going to keep working hard and be ready to receive all that God has for me and my team/family…we’re in the process of finishing her album, so be on the lookout. Be sure to check out our website for all updates on myself, Tiffany Mynon and the entire Platinum Boy Music team.”

Where did you discover your new artist Tiffany Mynon?

At Sound on Sound recording studio in NY…the moment she opened her mouth to sing I knew immediately that she was ready and needed to be heard. She has 2 singles out right now titled “Dance the Night Away” featuring Fred The God Son & “How to Love you (dot) Com” (produced by myself, Boogie Wizzard, & Cito Crandle)

What type of sound is she bringing to female R&B?

That true, from the heart & soul R&B she’ll make you laugh, cry, dance, reflect and more she’s bringing a lot to the music business
