What prompted your start for your career path?
I’ve always had a love for music and the arts. My first major/professional introduction to music was when I landed the role of Young Nala in the Broadway musical The Lion King. Being in a musical, of course we were singing, acting and dancing so I have a passion for all 3.
Who first recognized your talents and what it meant to you?
My mother. She raised me and my siblings as a single parent. Growing up I was also into sports. So, my mom was definitely both a stage and soccer mom. Once she knew about my passion/talents, she made sure I was at every audition or game.
First problem you have come across?
One of the first problems I came across while on this journey were the difficulties of being a female on the come up. It’s hard because you’re not taken seriously. And even harder finding people that genuinely for you and want to see you win as opposed to in it for what they can get.
As an up and coming artist what was it that you seen that you needed to improve on?
When I was first starting out as a recording artist, I knew that music is what I wanted to do but didn’t yet know the dedication it took. I’m driven and hardworking at heart so once I realized that music was something you have to dedicate your 24/7 to, at least if your dream is to make it major, I made the decision to drop everything and focus on just that. I sacrificed it all! Job, living arrangements, family (not being able to see them) because that’s just how bad I want it. And I’m on my way to getting it!
How will you make an impact given a chance? Why should people take notice in your work?
Through music and story/journey I hope to motivate, inspire and provide the soundtrack to people’s lives. If you’re a lover of music, you should take notice of my work. My lyrics are honest and my songs make you feel good.
What are your Top 5 albums or mixtapes of all time?
Missy Elliott - Supa Dupa Fly; Waiting to Exhale Soundtrack; Aaliyah – One In A Million; TLC – Crazy, Sexy, Cool; Usher – Confessions
Where do you see your career in the next 10 years?
In the next 10 years, I see me already having made my mark in the music industry, and God-
willing on my way to being considered a legend in this game.
