ICON – Watch This (3 Kings Flow)
We’re sure you can appreciate that some of us got into this very hectic business from what was once a passionate hobby. For those all-too-hectic nights in the studio, ICON recalls the simple pleasure of rockin’ with his DJ, The World Famous N.I.C.
The Fresh Coast MC shares the back story for his latest work on his tumblr:
["Before I ever considered the idea of spittin’ raps as a career possibility, I used to do it as a hobby; purely for the fun and joy it brought to my life. The process was simple. The DJ would cut the instrumental by running a 4-bar loop over and over, and I’d proceed to do what I do.
Fast forward to today’s very real circumstance and the actuality of a career in music can lead to some incredibly stressful, delirious, drive-you-all-the-way-crazy kind of nights in the studio. The clique and I were able to discover a therapeutic remedy for said nights. Take it back to the basics.
My DJ and brother N.I.C cut me an instrumental and let me do what I do. The result is ‘Watch This’ over Rick Ross’ ‘3 Kings’ feat. Jay-Z and Dr. Dre. The result is #iconic."]
